New York State Police say they observed a driver commit an infraction on I-95 and initiated a traffic stop on Sunday, Aug. 11 around 1:30 a.m. in Westchester.

The driver, identified as Elizabeth Rich, 35, of Madison, Connecticut, was found to be intoxicated and traveling with a 5-year-old and an 8-year-old child after the stop in Mamaroneck, police say.

Rich was arrested, and police say her BAC was tested at .15. She was subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle, a Class E Felony, endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A misdemeanor, and several traffic violations.

The children were turned over to a responsible party, according to police. Rich was released to a sober third party and is scheduled to return to the Town of Mamaroneck Court on Thursday, Sept. 5.
